Pre-Season Eventers’ Camp at Bicton Arena

14th -15th February 2017

A two-day intensive training camp with renowned trainers and international event riders Padraig and Lucy McCarthy.

This is an opportunity to improve skills, build confidence and polish up technique ahead of the 2017 competition season.

Places are limited and are on a first-come first-served basis.

All abilities and levels are welcome!

·         4 group sessions over the two days

·         Overnight stabling on Tuesday night

·         All meals provided, including Valentine themed dinner on Tuesday night.

·         Onsite shower and toilet block

·         BS standard show jumps and mobile XC fences

What size will the groups be?

We will split riders into groups of 4 for jumping sessions and groups of two for flatwork. We will endeavor to sort people into groups where they have a similar level of training.

What sort of sessions will there be?

The plan is that everyone will take part in a flatwork session, a grid work session, a showjumping lesson over a course of BS fences and cross-country technique lesson. You are welcome to watch any of the sessions you are not riding in, and Lucy and Padraig will be on hand during the day and on Tuesday evening for horse-related advice.

Will we use the XC course?

Unfortunately, not – at the moment Bicton are not planning to open for XC schooling until after their April event. For the XC session we will be working with mobile fences in the arena.

Will bedding be provided?

Stables at Bicton will more than likely be empty after the winter so we will provide 2 bales of straw or shavings per box. Please state your preference when booking. If you require extra bedding it can be purchased at Bicton.

Can friends and family attend?

Of course, although if they require meals these need to be booked in advance and will have to be paid for. You can even order a romantic table for 2 in the marquee on Tuesday evening. Wine will be supplied but you will need to bring your own champagne and chocolates!

Are there any additional costs?

Extra bedding and meals as described above. 50p for the shower. Any additional nights’ stabling cost £20 per night. Hook is also available on request but will need to be paid for.
